Certificate II Salon Assistant – Hair (Course code: SHB20216)
This program is designed for students wanting to pursue a career in hairdressing. This introductory course will give students the skills to begin work as an apprentice hairdresser and prepare them with the knowledge and skills required for gaining work in the hairdressing industry.
Training is delivered in a fully equipped hairdressing salon located at Albert Park and Richmond.

SHBHBAS002 Provide head, neck and shoulder massages for relaxation
SHBHDES002 Braid hair
SIRRINV001 Receive and handle stock
SIRXSLS001 Sell to the retail customer
Students must supply overalls, steel cap boots and safety glasses.
Basic stationery is required for written components.
VCAL counts towards Industry Related Skills strand.
VCE eligible for credit of up to four VCE VET units on their VCE Statement of Results. Students will receive one ATAR increment which is calculated as 10 per cent of the average of the scaled scores of the student’s primary four VCE studies.
PRE-APPRENTICESHIP – Selected electives in the specialist sector that schools and RTOs will consult through the model pre-apprenticeship pathways.
