Certificate II in Automotive Technology Studies
Interested in a career in the automotive industry? This program has been designed to incorporate elements of mechanical services, panel beating, spray painting, spare parts, auto electrical, heavy vehicle maintenance and automotive sales in a practical and theory based program. The program is a great introduction to the automotive industry and gives you the opportunity to gain valuable work readiness and real world skills. This program will give you the skills to achieve competencies that will enhance your employment prospects in the automotive or automotive-related industries.

Selection Criteria
Students intending to attend Cheltenham Secondary Collegeare required to attend a ‘rollover’ which will be held on Wednesday November 25th and Wednesday December 2nd 2014 from 11:45 to 4:30pm to find out program expectations and student suitability.

- Remove and Refit Batteries
- Apply sealants
- Recharge Batteries
- Operate Electrical Test Equipment
- Clean a Vehicle
- Use and maintain measuring equipment
- Remove and replace wheel and tyre assemblies
- Remove and replace cylinder head
- Dismantle and assemble carburettor
- Dismantle and assemble 4-stroke multi-cylinder engine
- Dismantle and assemble fuel pump
- Remove and replace radiator
- Remove and replace clutch assembly
- Job Seeking Skills
Materials
Students must supply overalls, steel cap boots and safety glasses.
Basic stationery is required for written components.
Contribution
VCAL counts towards Industry Related Skills strand.
VCE eligible for credit of up to four VCE VET units on their VCE Statement of Results. Students will receive one ATAR increment which is calculated as 10 per cent of the average of the scaled scores of the student’s primary four VCE studies.
PRE-APPRENTICESHIP – Selected electives in the specialist sector that schools and RTOs will consult through the model pre-apprenticeship pathways.
